Back in late 2009, I designed and built this website for Comen VFX, an independent film visual effects company in Santa Monica, California. Since then, the collaborative relationship has continued, with my continuing to maintain the main ComenVFX website, designing, building, and maintaining a website for their sister company, Picture Lock Post, and creating several landing pages for specific projects under the umbrella of the main entity.
In addition, I have created many print materials, including business cards and apparel (featured elsewhere on the site), and several individual pieces of production pitch materials (proprietary literature omitted here).
Comen VFX is a very active company with a stellar reputation for their visual work, so I take the design of their marketing, branding, and promotion quite seriously.
As technologies have changed, I’ve implored them to do a revamp on a responsive CMS system, but the answer I’ve always gotten is that they love their site and continue to get great feedback on it.
I do think that the design itself has mostly stood the test of time, and as it has been so successful for them for years, I’ve opted to include it as part of the portfolio to demonstrate the forward-thinking aesthetic that I’ve always fought to create in my work.
You can check out this site, completely hand-coded in trusty old-school HTML, at comenvfx.com.
